How do I find part numbers?

Y'all on this list have been an invaluable help to the newbie GM owner, Ford-convert that I am.

I have another question for you.

I know about the discount GM places online, but they don't have very good ways to actually find the Part Number you need. If you already have the PN, they're slick. I have a list of a few things I'm looking for but don't know how to find the PN's. Can someone tell me how to find them, or alternatively, look them up for me in a super-secret computer somewhere?

The Parts I need (all for my 2005 GMC 1500 Extended cab SLE)

1) Replacement AC vent louvers in dark pewter. The previous owner had some goo stuck to three of these that I can't get off.

2) Trailer Brake controller jumper harness - comes in trucks with trailer tow package. Mine was missing.

3) Spare Tire Crank Lock - I assume you can add this across the parts counter? Mine didn't have one.

4) GMC Touch Up Paint in Summit White (50U)

5) I need the part of the little rubber non-skid pad that sits in the bottom of the overhead console pocket to keep things from sliding around & rattling. My original had it, but the replacement console I bought with Homelink doesn't. I know I can cut some rubber & lay it in there, I just want the OEM one that fits & sticks in place.

Thanks again to you guys (and gals) - a wealth of knowledge & resources exist here!

I went there, but all the choices it gives me are for the Transmission, Transfer Case, Alternator & Starter.

What about the other stuff?

I usually just go here:

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/partsvoice/frameset.cfm

gmpartsdirect dont have a search function (you have to know the part number) but they have a link on their site to another site which you can browse all parts by vehicle and get the part number.  Its pretty handy really.

You only see Transmission, Transfer Case, Alternator & Starter? I see all sorts of categories (Axle, body, brakes, bumper/grille, door, electrical, engine, fender, frame, etc). Are you looking under the collision or the mechanical tab at the top?

The only tab I have is mechanical. Try it yourself - enter 2005 GMC Sierra. I do see others if I enter other vehicles. I tried 2004 GMC Sierra, but still didn't find the parts I was after.

So - does *anybody* have a way to find part numbers without going to the dealer? I'd even be willing to buy a Parts DVD or something (my DVD Service Manual doesn't show part numbers)

I'd feel bad going to the dealer to get PN's & ordering online. Much prefer just to look it up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You have a DVD Service manual, where do you buy one of those things from?

Well, if you're made of money, you can get one from Helm for a small fortune (almost $500 I think).

I got mine off this list though for like $20.

There's SO much information on this - for all GM vehicles, I believe - that it's even hard to find what you need on the PC.

But if I only had parts....
