99 tahoe, autotrac-there appears to be anti seeze (its silver anyway) on the splines of the rear shaft- there is no zerk to lube the splines-Do I use a needle to inject grease under the boot on the transfer case ? and is anti seeze recomended at all? Thanks

GM makes a special 'Teflon' slip yoke grease. The driveshaft needs to be unbolted and the slip yoke pulled back. You can then grease it (but not too much, no gobs of grease, just lubricate the splines) and then reinsert the yoke and reinstall the 4 bolts. Only takes a few minutes.

NOTE : Make sure your parking brake is on and/or the wheels are chocked.

Its not a lot of work with a one-peice drive shaft but if you have a two peice as I do you also have to drop the carrier bearing.  Makes for a little more work

Thankyou for the info. This is something I wanted to get done before the snow flies here. Looks like GM calls it SUPER LUBE w/teflon, or I will find out at the dealer today. Yes saftey first as I'm not to keen of having the tahoe move while under it. Thanks again

Depending what that 'super lube' costs........you will be just as well off using some wheel bearing grease or any good grease for that matter...........I use wheel bearing grease and it last me a good 4 to 5 months before I have to re-lube......one day I will fork out the $$$ for the nickle plated slip yoke but for now......as everyone has mentioned, it just takes a few minutes to grease......... :banghead:
