Condensation in oil fill cap

I have a '01 2500HD with the 6.0 liter.

Just got it about 3k miles ago and just did first oil change.

I noticed the underside of the oil fill cap had an orange residue.

I was able to wipe most of it out and off of it, but still some rusty color

remains.

I just got back from a 2k mile trip through the Rockies. I checked the oil the day after when everything had cooled down.

No more orange residue, but the same 'stain' as before.

However, there was what looked like water condensation under the cap.

Question is this something I need to investigate further, or something that is considered normal?

93k miles.

thanks

This is not normal unless you do a LOT of very short trip driving where the engine never gets fully warmed up. It's an indication of water (coolant) in the oil.

Thanks,

I guess the fix would be new head gaskets??

I'll keep an eye on it, see if it gets worse.

Still no white foamy stuff so I assume not too bad.
