Best to take to dealer as they have specialized equipment to align the beam so as not to create a hazzard to other drivers

The service manual says you need J25300-D headlamp aimer. The aiming is done with the low beam lamps and the high beams will be aimed correctly if the low beams are aimed properly. The vertical adjuster is on the left side of the headlamp unit and the horizontal adjuster is on the back side of the unit toward to the center of the vehicle.

You could do the screen method (without the aiming tool)on your garage back wall or garage door. If you can back the vehicle 25 feet from the wall. You need to put a line on the pavement 90 degrees perpendicular to the wall and 2 feet from the left edge of the screen.

Place the vehicle left side tires on the 90 degree line, with tires properly inflated and loaded to represent normal use. Rock the vehicle manually to stabilize the vehicle suspension. Measure from the floor to the center of the headlamp (look for measuring dot on lamp) measure same distance on screen and put horizontal piece of tape on the screen. Now measure from the tire reference line to the center of the left headlamp. Repeat that same measurement on the screen and place a vertical tape line. You now have a center + mark on the screen for the left side. Measure from the tire reference line to the center of the right headlamp and repeat on the screen and add the second vertical tape. You should now have 2 + reference points on the screen. Turn on headlamps and adjust to these + marks.

Check your state & local laws to see if there is a spec for deviation from 25ft.

I have a 2004 Denali Projector Halogen Headlight. To adjust the vertical I know there is a long rod that I use a screwdriver. Can you go into more detail again on how to adjust the horizontal? Do I still use the same screwdriver to adjust the headlight?
