Spring or spindle drop

I am looking to drop the front end 2", I do not want to screw the front end up and go through the process of elimination as I did for the rear springs, so any help or advice would be appreciated.

Should I go with a 2.5" spindle drop or a 2" coil spring drop? I went to a performance shop and they said springs are the way to go on a 2" drop. I have always thought of spring drops as a cheap modification and the front end will be hard to align. I have read here that the Belltech spindles are fine but the turning radius is lost and tire rub can be annoying. I am running the stock wheels and 255 70 R16 tires for now.

Read and learn from my mistake!

I am looking to fix a rear shackle and spring drop that went wrong. Long story, I had the guy that does front end work on all my big trucks add an extra rear leaf springs to beef the suspension up and level a left side sag at the same time.

Problem is, the extra leaf added 2" to the rear height, went out and bought the belltech 2" shackle drop, that brought the rear down a little higher then stock before the extra springs went in. It still looked like a tow truck with the rear end high in the air. Went back to the drawing board, pulled the rear leafs and under arched them, now it is perfectly level, too level. My wife now has to wear a jogging bra while driving because the ride is so rough..

Now with an ATV in the back it is a little lower then the front, I dread of the thought of pulling my 30' 6500 lbs travel trailer because it will look like it is saging in the rear. I do like the way the rear sits and the tires fill the wheel well. I could have put less money into an air bag system and kept a smooth ride..

P.S

Truck still sags to the left

The best way to lower the front of your Silverado and be able to align it and not have any rub or tire wear problems is to use a 2" drop control arm from DJM. I have installed many of these on both 2 and 4 wd trucks and they work great. What I would do on the rear is to first see if the frame is twisted causing the uneven stance. If everything checks out I would get a set of new stock springs and use your 2" drop shackles. If you want to drop it more and have a good ride then add a 2" front hanger and a set of air bags for a 4" drop. You can get these from Airfift or Firestone. they have kits for drop trucks. Towing should not be a problem with the air bags.

Thanks to those who responded to my question.

We installed the Belltech 2" drop front springs yesterday. Every thing went well in the re & re. The truck now has a nice rake to it.

It droped the front end 2" perfectly. Before the installation we measured wheel well opening to center of the rim, the driver side was 1/2 lower then the passenger side. The new springs have corrected the uneven stance. The ride is much better as well..

A boob reduction could be in the future if she doesn't like the ride, but I think I would go to air bags and soften the ride before I would let that happen...lol

I still haven't towed my travel trailer since I dropped the rear, air bags might be the way to go eventually.

This suspension lowering thing is kind of addicting isn't it?

Cranky.....what wheel/tire combo are you running?

I am running P255 70 R16 tires on factory 16X7 6 bolt factory aluminum Chev wheels. In the future I am thinking of going to 18" or 20" rims.

This truck is just my toy and toy hauler and I have to keep it functional for all purposes. I have read a few threads that 20" tires and rims have some down falls if you want to some heavy duty towing and stuff.
