Muffler Diameter

I am soon to be purchasing a Flowmaster 40 series muffler.

 

What diameter is correct for my 2000 5.3?

 

2.5? 3.0?

 

 

 

 

 

EDIT: Also, all I am doing is cutting my old one off and welding this one on.

 

Should I buy the one with in inlet and exit lined up?

 

 

 

Better yet, could someone do a search on Ebay for "Flowmaster 40 Series" and provide me with a link to one that would fit my truck?

I think they are 2.75"

All the 40 series ones I saw on eBay were either 2¼", 2½" or 3".

Didn't see any that were 2¾".

 

I'm guessing 2½" inlet size.

Id go with the 3 inch if it were me.

Flowmaster unfortunately doesn't offer the 40 at 2.75".

 

What would be better: 3" or 2.5" ?

If I am going to retain my stock single exit and everything excluding the factory muffler, which of these is the right one?

My cousin and I are going to install it as soon as it comes in.. should be a huge difference over the oem muffler.
