The console lid issue

every one that has the base style console pictured in this post has probley noticed that the lids some times break alot of these have this problem. So i have put together some of the part numbers excuding avalanch and some tahoes and yukons. Since ive ran into this countless times here in the parts dept. ive also notice that gm partech has been saying that there is a design change so wanted to give you guys a head start on getting these things.

for pewter (x88) ;chevy use 88941272

that works for : (03,53,43) cab styles,....reg,ex,crew

 

for neutral (x88) use 88941274

same as above applies

 

for pewter (z88) 88941268

03,53,43 and as well as some yukons

 

for neutral (z88) 88941270

03,53,43 and some yukons

 

all of these consoles are compleate units they have to be purchased by the whole not service in detail.

but gm says the mounting holes are missing threads so they want self tappers [12474220]

 

any way just wanted to let you all know these numbers cus your dealer might have a hell of a time finding them.............like i did...lol

Replace just the lid for the armrest.

Do NOT replace the armrest assembly.

 

 

Condition

Some customers may comment that the lid for the armrest is broken.

 

Correction

Replace the armrest lid using the procedure below.

 

Open the armrest lid.

Remove the armrest inner panel. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver and place it between the two panels and pull to separate.

Fold the seat backs to gain access to the hinge pin. Using a punch, push the hinge pin out.

Install the two springs into the new armrest lid.

Align the two springs and the lid to the armrest and install the pin.

Install the inner lid to the armrest and close the lid.

Place the seat back in the upright position.

I've replaced my whole console once and I need to do it again. do I need to replace the whole thing? according to the bullitain I can replace just the lid? Can I order just the lid?

 

 

Last time it cost me $200. I hope I can find another way. I have grey cloth interior.
