Nav Install Issues

I just got a Nav Unit 10377287 for my 04 Tahoe, Non-Lux. I installed the unit and when connected to a Tech 2 it can't establish a connection to the Nav Unit to de-activate the theftlock. Anybody have any ideas on what could be the problem?

My 04 Tahoe did not come with nav from the factory, and someone told me that in order for the tech 2 to be able to communicate with the nav unit I will have to use a vin number from a Tahoe that had nav from the factory. Does anybody know if this is true?

I can't help on why it's not communicationg but I don't believe the second part is true. I have an '04 NAV in my '03 Yukon and it works fine. The tech used my VIN to deactivate the Theftlock and everything took about 15 minutes. I'd maybe just check all the connections again to be sure they're good and maybe try a different shop (tech). I don remember it's not too east to find the right location in the system to get it done.
