2004 Silverado 2500 HD DIC Reading

Thank you very much for taking the time address my question. I have a 2004 Silverado 2500HD with LLY engine.

The other night when I started my truck up, I recieved the "service brake system" message. When I step on the brakes they don't feel that bad. The dealer I purchased the truck from just told me the truck had been serviced. I was able to shut the truck off and turn it back on again and the message seem to reset. Any suggestions?

AlsoThis is my first diesel, and I love it so far. Living in western Mass, As far as routine maintence, how often should I be doing oil changes and servicing the transmission?

I want to make sure I properly maintain my truck and have it for a long time

Thanks

MIKE

I have a 2005, and from talking to the tech at my dealership, I have been told to wait for the DIC to advise you the service is due. If you have the DIC controls, you can scroll through the mesages and it will tell you the % of engine oil life left and you can have it changed whenever you want, ie 25% left or so.

Also do not forget to change your trans filter (Allison) every oil change, it is about $20.00 or so, but clean fluid will make the trans last a long time.

Thanks for the information, from reading the manual and reading info on here, i am just going to wait for the DIC and go from there.

Thanks again
