diesel fuel treatment

Based upon the advise of a relative who has been an over the road truck driver for over 30 years I have been adding 1 oz. to 10 gal. diesel, at every filling, of "Howes Lubricator" to my 2002 3500 for over 11000 miles. Have had no problems of any kind with my Duramax engine. Have never found any water in my system nor any winter related fuel problems. I can't help but wonder if this product is widly used or if there is a better product on the market? Is it even necessary to add a fuel suppliment? Any advise would be appreciated.

look at cheveron's web site. They have a bunch of good information on diesel fuel. If it were my truck...Except for

anti-gell in the winter, I wouldn't add anything to the fuel. Keep up with your fuel filter interval, and water drains though. Buy diesel at high volume stations to get fresh fuel. Otherwise long term storage, gets water,algae, dirt, etc in the fuel. The lower lubricity of low sulfer fuel is designed into the new pumps like yours.
