Hello,

I'm trying to figure out what the real GVWR rating is for the GMT-900 1/2 ton pickup with standard cab, 8 ft bed, 4WD, 5.3L --

- Printed brochure indicates 6400-6800 lb (bed not specified)

- GM website (specs) indicates 6400 lb (8 ft)

- GM website (build) indicates 6400-6800 lb (8 ft) (site flakes out during options)

For reference, the ext cab with 6.5 ft bed has a 7000 lb GVWR rating. It weighs approx 400 lb more than the std cab with 8 ft bed.

For the std cab, by the time I throw two people, fuel, a topper, and 450 lb on the hitch, I'm left with the following capacity for gear in the bed, depending on the answer --

- If GVWR is 6800 lb ---> 700 lb for bed gear (good enough)

- If GVWR is 6400 lb ---> 300 lb for bed gear (deal breaker)

If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!
