Door Locks

I got my truck a few years ago, a '00 LS, which came with the auto keyless entry system. I'm assuming that the original owner never actually used the key in the door. I tried it shortly after I got the truck and they never worked. Since my alarm battery died and I had to go back home and get my replacement, but if I didn't have one and considering the time of night, there was no way to get just a battery. With that said, a sticky situation.

 

I'm just going to spray some lube (WD-40 or alternative) in there to see if it works. I can't see it making the issue any worse, but, has any ever had the locks replaced on their truck?

 

If so, I'm assuming at a dealer? How much did it cost you if you have. Do they replace with the same locks, or give you a new key? Ignition? Ect...

Does the key fit in the lock? If it does, "gingerly" turn it back and forth a while and see if you can get the mechanism to free up (not so hard that you risk breaking the key of course). Graphite is good for locks, but can be a pain to get it where it needs to go. Same for the passenger door.

Last year I got a can of "LOCK-EASE -- Graphited Lock Fluid." It comes with a flexible snorkel so that you san spray it into the lock. We've used it for preventative mx only, so I can't say how well it would work for you.

 

If I remember right ACE Hardware had it for a couple of bucks. The front of the label is blue with a white key on top of a yellow circle. The words "LOCK EASE" appear in the white key.
