What kind of work boot would you recommend?

My Timberland Pro's have finally been put to rest. I did a two week stint of volunteer work in Guatemala and all the cement mixing killed them.

Anyone have any idea of a nice boot?

I'm looking for the Wheat colored, 6" high, steel toe boot in a size 14.

Thanks!

Check out www.bootbarn.com. I got a pair of Georgia Boots there. They are just a pull on, kinda like a cowboy boot, but steel toed and a bit more comfortable. I feel your pain of having a size 14, as most boot stores don't carry sizes that large. Nothing worse than walking into a shoe store and asking, "What do you have in a 14?" and getting 4 choices, at best.

I know you just threw them out, but Timberland Pros have been very good to me personally. The last set I had (black ones) lasted almost 4 years of wearing at least 5 days a week, and I'm a plumber/pipe fitter so they abused!

Redwings are hands (feet?) down the best for me. They also have lots of coverage for sizes. The original treads wear somewhat quickly, but once replaced with a Vibram lug they last FOREVER. I have a pair that's over 7 yrs old and I only replace the insoles every 6 mos.

I used to wear Redwing boots, but they are not as soft as I would like them. Too hard for my taste. I have had several pairs of Best Wolverines and like them a lot. The get abused pretty bad between farming and working on rentals. They last a little over a year and personally, I wear the insides out before the outsides.

They may not last as long as a Redwing, but they cost a lot less. I feel that over a 10 year span, your boot costs between the two will be about the same.

Ariats, i am on my third pair and wouldn't trade them for the world. infact i don't even own a pair of tennis shoes anymore.

get yourself a pair of shoes or boots called dunham ruggards they cost about 110 bucks but they are the toughest shoes ive ever owned. Full leather no steel toe, but you can get them that way.

my first pair lasted over a year at a large construction site. Mainly doing commercial HVAC work.

We re talking like walking through rubble of demolitioned walls an wire mesh. Once we were even using a long strap hooked to a forklift to pull crates out of a trailer . The hook came loose and wailed me in the side of my foot, It scraped my shoe up and thats about it!

theyre almost like tires, the tread started at about 3/4 of in thick I tossed em once the soles were about a 1/8 in thick in front. Im on my second pair now still going stong. Id say a 3/8 of the soles are left

I quit That s**tty job!!

Wow I never thought a boot thread would be this popular. But I guess since we all have pickup trucks in common we all probably share the same type of footwear.

I will take into consideration all the brands you guys mentioned, I'm VERY picky. I expect comfort as well as practicality to come with a quality boot that looks good too.

I like my boots to be the same as my trucks. Practical, tough, comfortable and good looking all in one package! I guess you might call it a "toe Package" (get it? Tow package?)

ha...

Thanks for the input guys, I should post some pics of my boots one of these days online, it's kinda like taking a picture of your truck after you've just driven through a huge mud puddle...It kinda says..."look at the Sh** I've been through with a nice grin on your face"
