A/C Interface Swap...

Hi everyone,

I have the basic A/C - Heater setup in my truck with the two knobs and two up and down levers to control heat and air settings for the truck.

But, I'd really like the computerized version of this which has the digital readou with the temperature and actually automatically heats or cools the truck to a specific temperature for you instead of you having to adjust it all of the time to find that right sweet spot.

My question is can this interface just be simply swapped out and plugged directly into the space where the current one is with no additional wiring or computer changes?

Ah, I'm in a 2005 CrewCab if this helps any.

I appreciate any responses. I'm hoping it's a simple swap so that I can find one and get it in soon.

Thanks everyone,

Alan

well for one the autp temp would not work because your truck does not have an aspirator. (small speaker grill looking thing on the roof above the drivers head)

the aspirator has a small fan that sucks in air from the truck to know what the air temp is so it knows when to turn down the heat/cold. without it he auto temp wouldn't work.

The auto temp unit will need the aspirator as stated above. However, given that everything else is electronically controlled the real issue is where the controlling programs live (in the heater control head or in the body control module or someplace else). If the BCM can be reprogrammed you may be able to add the additional components if the wiring is already in place. If the wiring is not in place I would punt--adding it is probably not trivial given that you are adding to a computer system.

In other threads folks have indicated that the auto temp system is not as convenient to operate because the temp controls are two separated rotating knobs instead of the paired sliders in your truck.
