Fan belt idler going south.

While looking under the hood yesterday I noticed the idler pulley wheel is shot. 25,000 miles. It wobbles terribly. I figure the bearing is shot. I think this was mentioned before that 2002 model was redesigned.

Hey Mike.  Well that bites!  My 95 Z71 and 99 Tahoe had to have the idler pulley as well as the alt and belt replaced under warranty.  Remember a few months ago when you heard my non knocking '02 6.0?  She knocks now! :angry:

FYI, some wobble IS normal.  However, if it wobbles like a $5 whore on a rocking horse and makes a lot of noise to accompany it, then it needs replacing.

Maybe it's not so bad after all. I didn't notice it wobbling when I first got the truck.

 

Does anybody know what the redesign did in 2002?
