Ground?

Hi, I have a very tiny Cobra radio and I noticed a whine when I turned the engine on and the pops when I locked the locks and turned the windshield wiper on. Do you think this is because my ground wire is attatched to a little bolt under the dash or do I need to buy one of those relay things? Thanks!

Is your CB on a fused power source? If not this can cause your problem. I doubt it's where you're grounded to. I typically pick up power for CBs at the cigarette lighter (constant power, direct from the battery) and use an in-line fuse on it as well. I only get a slight whine from acceleration, and absolutely no pops/crackles unless my squelch is too low.
