wgabert Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 joined here recently. I have a engine miss/stutter just off idle with maybe 5% throttle. idles smooth and runs perfect if maybe 10% throttle or more. mileage is ok. i did a search on maf, tps but my dial up is so slow i'd be looking for a week. Could you give me your best guess at where to start. could you also give me a link for the maf location and cleaning instructions Thanks Warren
cbxeric Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Welcome. first I would clean the throttle body as it tends to gum up. A dirty throttle body will cause Idle problems as well as sometimes a stiff throttle. A can of throttle body cleaner and a clean rag is all that is needed. Clean both sides of the butterfly as well as the intake bore. While you are in there, clean out the idle air passage as well. The I.A.C. valve is top right on throttle body, it can get gummed up pretty bad. You do not have to remove the throttle body to clean it, Just the intake hose. The M.A.F. sensor is located next to the air filter box. Clean with an electrical contact cleaner (I used brake cleaner, same stuff). But I would think that a gummed up throttle body is the culprit. Good luck Eric.
