Safety on a side crash (T-bone)

Do you think that a Crew cab is safer on a side crash (T-bone) over a Ext Cab?

I'm looking to get a new truck 07 but trying to see if the 3800 more for a crew cab is worth it.....

most of the time is will just be me and my wife at time maybe 3 to 4 times a year 4 people but I would be using the back seat for stuff to get in and out...

Crew Cabs have a side curtain air bag option and was pretty sure Extended cabs didn't, but the website says they are available. Other than that I guess it depends on what hits you. The frame underneath would probably help some in certain situations.

I bet they are both close to equal.

You could check the NHTSA website( www.nhtsa.gov ) to see if they have tested them yet for side impacts.

I would guess it might be a little better because of the fixed B pillar. However, I don't think that it would make that big of difference. From what you say, it sounds like an ext cab you suite you needs just fine. It’s not that big of deal to use the rear hinged doors, and now they open 170 degrees.
