??? Water Pump Design

I'm wondering about the waterpump design on the 5.3. Is the waterpump seperate/d from the block like on the old 5.7 or is it somewhat "part of the block". In other words if you take off the water pump is the timing chain exposed or is there a seperate timing chain cover behind like on the 5.7.

You cant see the timing chain on the 5.3 unless you take the timing cover off.
