New 07 oil leakleaking oil

Well, I've had this truck 3 days now and have about 200 miles on it. It is a Z71 extended cab with the 6.0 LTZ trim and I am very impressed with this truck so far however, got home today and noticed a small amount of oil on the garage floor. I crawled underneath and seen quite a bit under the engine around the filter area s far as I can tell which I tightened. Hopefully, that is it and I'll keep an eye on it and will more than likely take it in to be checked out just to make sure. Hope it is not a sign of things to come!

A loose filter is a change. Usually they are put on so tight at the factory that they are almost impossible to remove. Keep us informed on the outcome. Was the oil level down any on the dipstick?

no, the oil level is fine. I drove the truck again after tightning the filter and still have a leak. Also noticed the d**n rear parking assist quit working. I am beginning to be concerned about GM quality. I researched this truck and how GM as put a lot in to it and now I can't help but begin to wonder. I fly out of town for two weeks tomarrow so I have to wait to get it looked at.

Even the very best vehicle can have one problem. If they fix it and there isn't a storm of other problems, I would believe their quality is good. Nothing mechanical owes you anything.

I would hope with a new vehicle that the oil was just the normal new oil filter leak. I would be a little worried too, but hopefully you could look under your vehicle and trace the oil to a little drippage from the oil filter.

got to have dealer take a look. Don t wait, nothing should be leaking. As someone said, the filter on my 07 was so tight, I had trouble taking it off. Don t get discouraged until you see what it is. If the oil level is full, how much could you have lost? Should nt be a big deal if it s a filter. 3000 miles and not back to the dealer yet.

Not a good problem to have, but it happens. On our '04 Suburban, my father was changing the oil around 9k or so miles and noticed stuff underneath was wet with what looked to be transmission fluid--it was. This was on a Sunday, called the dealer Monday morning and they were concerned enough to want it IMMEDIATELY, no appointment needed, took it in and it was fixed--a seal on the tail end was crimped and needed replaced.

So for you with the oil, it's a brand new truck and shouldn't have anything leaking anywhere--just call the dealer service department and more likely than not, they'll get you in ASAP and sort it out.

At my first oil change I noticed an oil drop sitting on the bottom of the bell housing. I changed the oil (YES-Filter was a B***H). Checked it again and then a third time. Took it to the dealer, they found the problem. Leaking rear seal! Darn only 3717 miles on it. 27 days later they took it in and put a new seal in it. So far so good.
