Door Lock Frustration

I've recently been locked out of my Yukon twice with it running due to the following:

I have my doors set to lock manually only (this problem happens in any of the lock modes).

As soon as I start the vehicle the doors lock. Once I unlock the doors the first time every thing works as it should ( I am not able to lock the doors with it running and close the driver door). If I start the vehicle with the door open, and exit the vehicle before hitting the unlock button, I am locked out. This has happened twice when I have opened the door and started the vehicle to warm it without getting in and closed the door before unlocking it.

Questions:

Has anyone seen where the doors lock as soon as you start the engine and will allow you to close the driver door with the door still locked?

It looks like the person before me may have had a remote starter installed but it has been removed. (I'm guessing this because there is a hood limit switch in place but the wires have been removed) I was wondering if something to do with the remote starter wiring could be causing this?

My 04 Sierra does this also no matter what settings are chosen for automatic locking. I have noticed that if I have the door still open while I start it and let the DIC finish it's boot up, the doors will lock according to the settings. It's a little annoying, does anyone know how to change it?

How long does it take for the DIC to boot up?

Both of you guys need to have you memory re-flashed. I have an 04 Sierra. The doors are set for manual locking. I can start my truck with any door open, closed, etc and the doors do not lock until I push the button.

 

I do this daily to get the truck warm.

How long does it take for the DIC to boot up?

 

Just a few seconds, once it shows the odometer or whatever you leave it on.

 

Thanks Jansen, I figured something wasn't right with it. I've only had the truck for 2 weeks so I'm still sorting through the learning process.

OK, got my door lock problems fixed. It's still under warranty so I let the dealership have a look at it, as it turns out the Viper alarm system that was on the truck when I bought it was causing the issues. My truck would always default to Driver 1 no matter what key fob was used, and it would never remember where the AC was set, it would always default back to Auto 74deg. So I got home, pulled out the Viper system, and bam boom everything works as it should. Now I'm a happy driver
