P0358 Code

Getting a code of P0358 on our 2000 Suburban with 5.3

 

I just did a motor/tranny swap with a salvage yard motor replacement. our original had 296K before starting to knock on us. but, that code is coming up. i have read the description of the code...but this doesn't tell me what i need to fix or replace. can anyone point me to the exact coil i need to replace if this is what needs done?

P0358 refers to cyl 8 ignition coil. Possibilities Unplug the connector, turn the key on and check for power on the pink wire with a test, if its good then probably have a bad coil. Or if you have another coil just swap it out.

I don't know if u have a coil per cylinder but if u do, i assume you do swap the coil with another cylinder and see if you get the same code or not.

Yes the 5.3 does have one coil per cylinder, coils are mounted on the valve cover.
