1996 GMC 6.5 Diesel

I just bought this truck it is a 1996 GMC Sierra 2500 with a 6.5 diesel it has 103000 miles on it.

I got it half way home and the check engine light came on. I let off the gas peddle and the truck accelerated by its self. Now the motor it makeing louder than normal noises. It still has good power but it makes the noise and wants to go by its self.

 

If anyone could give me a clue on what it could be I would greatly appreciate it.
