I have a 2003 Chevy SS; I bought this truck with the 5 setting on the heater control not working...sooner than later all the settings (1-5) not working. I bought a new resistor from the dealership and installed it. As soon as i installed the new resistor the 5 setting still did not work. Now none of them work. I"m wondering if i need to buy a new heater control unit. (the one in my truck has the vertical heat controls not the digital readout)....Please Help it's been below zero lately brrrr.

Its been my experience that the heater switch is burnt up on the high setting and this can be caused by a blower motor going bad causing high resistance. So you problaby need a new motor & switch.

I think you are right about the switch, I am having a similar problem with my heater controls on my 99 Yukon. I have replace the resistor but no change. Now I have to replace the switch but unable to find it. I am trying to avoid going to the dealer as they have overcharged me on several occasions.

Check the wires that plug into the resistor as well to make sure that they have not overheated and melted.
