i have an 03 with the 6.0l and was thinking of getting into a diesel, i have a 30ft travel trailer so the truck would get used from time to time but it would also be a daily driver, so i was wondering what the MPG on the d-max is empty and loaded??

I saw about a 30% improvement in everyday driving when I went from my 6.0L (2001) to my Dmax (2005). Those numbers seem to stand for both empty and loaded...

My numbers ( I've only had the truck for 1 month ) :

Empty: 16 - 18MPG , but I live in a cold climate, so there is some high idle time involved.

Towing: 8500lb enclosed trailer, mostly freeway, 14.5 MPG. But with TONS of power to spare :D

Love my D-Max!

My dad's D-max usually stays on highways, he uses it to get to work in the city, and we live about an hour away.. I have seen that truck get as high as 25mpg on the highway. He has a Hypertech chip in it, so that helps a little..

I drive both a 6.0L for a personal vehicle and a Duramax for work, both have programers, CAI systems. The Duramax gets 32mpg on the highway at 70 mph, my 6.0 will get 20mpg at 70mph. When full loaded the Duramax mileage drops to 17 mpg and my 6.0 L drops to 12 mpg. I can tell you that the Duramax is ENORMOUSLY STRONG engine with that programer on.

What??? Please tell me what programmer and cold air intake you have so I can get one too... Those numbers are too good to be true!

I also have a Duramax 05 as a work truck and Diablo Sport tuner and that thing will get 32 mpg empty on the highway at 70 mph.If I had the money I would be buying a Duramax to do the hauling. The power is amazing, you tend to forget that you have a load behind the truck.

I have to say, this sounds like a tall tale. You are claiming to get a 50% improvement in fuel economy over what just about anyone else here has posted.

Are you using some other type of product/equipment/enchancement that you aren't disclosing? Are you developing said product? Are you sure your odometer/ vehicle electronics are in proper calibration?

I think if you can make these claims, you should be able to answer those questions. If your #'s are true, there are a lot of Duramax owners out there that would like to know your secret... and I can't believe that driving like an old fart can do all that!
