Speedometer acting funny

Been plowing snow here in upstate NY the past couple days.

Looked down the other morning and the speedometer showed 120mph.

The thing is I was sitting still.

The next day it read 80. And the day after that it seemed normal but would rev up like the tach when you rev the engne in neutral.

Yesterday, I checked it with a GPS and it seems to be working. However, now it makes a clicking noise.

What did I do?

This will require the cluster to be replaced or sent to a repair shop to be fixed. I know what the exact problem is, but I am having a brain fart right now and can't find my info on it to be able to tell you where to get the part to do the repair your self if you choose.

I will look for the the info for you. If I can't find it I will atlease give you a few places that do exchanges

You can find Stepper motors on Ebay for anywhere from 9.99-14.99+shipping. There is also a guy in conneticut that will repair and or upgrade your cluster from anywhere from 109.00-249.99. Depending on what you want done to it. But you can replace them fairly easy google that sh*t and save some money.

I had the same problem, speedo would register crazy high speeds, sitting still it would register rpms for the speed. Also Temp gauge immediately after start up was like 220. Everyone was saying instrument cluster/gauge....but I took out alternator to check because that was a bit cheaper at the time, sure enough it was bad. Changed it out, and all gauges went back to normal.....so it could be either or....

The only thing was the clicking noise,,,it was not really there, only if you listened real close you could hear it a little.

I heard both reasons, and just decided to go the cheapest/easiest route for me first.

I have maybe a similar problem. In park engine of the speedometer has read 40 mph. Also seems like my Oil pressure gauge, voltmeter, temp gauge, and fuel gauge needles all stay at about the same angle. My tach is very jumpy. I replaced my altenator a couple months ago, and all this has started in the past month. Although I not sure what you are talking about a clicking noise? Is it possible I have a bad alternator?
