dash kit needed for 1.5 din stereo swap??

i have a quick question for everyone. i own a 2002 2dr Blazer 4x4 which still has the factory deck installed. i am interested in installing the pioneer DEH-P77DH, or some other after-market 1.5 din head unit. first question, if i go with the pioneer, for example, there is no dash kit needed, right? i checked on scoshe.com and they said that a 1.5 din after-market deck should be a "PERFECT" fit. yet, on crutchfield.com, they say that this head unit will not fit in my blazer. also on ebay, the car compatibility check for the pioneer deck said that it fits, but i needed a metra 99-4000 install kit. im confused...does anyone have some good input they could add to this? thanks

well the stock cd deck is din 1/2 on the 02's. i believe S-series didnt go to double din until 2003. the only reason why i can see getting a dash kit is if the pioneer is deeper then a stock deck. most aftermarket decks with dash kits stick out a little more then the stock ones. the stock cd deck is behind the dash piece, where aftermarket ones tend to stick out of the opening.
