Crystal Guard, Zaino, etc.

I just put Zaino on my new Victory Red Duramax. I tried to claybar it, but I didn't pick up anything so skipped that step with the majority of the vehicle. With the Z2/ZFX and CS options I must say it was pretty easy to do. It's been raining every day since. It's an outside truck until I get my garage re-modeled so it will fit. When I went out today the water just flew off the truck and left it dry. I was impressed.

When I got my black Acura RL a couple of years ago (2004) I used "Crystal Guard" on it. It's a three step process that is similar to Zaino, albeit more expensive-about $120 to cover a vehicle. I just put a CS on top of this and it's looking pretty good, though I must say I might have to strip it down and Zaino that, too.

But I have a coupla questions. Has anyone used Crystal Guard? Any comments? And what about this idea of "molecular bonding?" Both products say that's how it works. "The product bonds with the paint leaving a tough impenetrable coating" That sort of statement then they turn right around and say, well, this will last for nine months or a year. I thought it bonded at a molecular level. Does it then de-bond at a molecular level? It just seems like a contradiction to me. Any comments appreciated.

check out www.autopia.org theres more info that the average person can handle. I personally like Klasse AIO for a long term sealant followed by P21s carnuba.

Crystal Guard does cost more than Zaino and does not last as long. We sell Zaino to several car dealerships that used to use Crystal Guard, they now use Zaino, but of course still charge insane prices to apply it. Check out http://www.detailersclub.com/ , it's another good detail site for getting questions answered. I used Crystal Guard on 5 cars, it lasted as good as some products, but there are better ones. The synthetic products slowly degrade over time, they just don't stop working like say carnauba after driving thru a few days of rain, then your shine and protection is gone. On your 04' there is probably not if any CG still on the car unless you have been using their maintance product, and of course Z-CS is so simple to use.
