Steering knock and brake shake combo

I bought my 2006 cc silverado back in Jan. and felt I had found the perfect truck. I took it for a test drive and everything felt great. Then a few days later I noticed the steering felt lose and had a knock. The next thing I noticed was that the brakes would shake from time to time when I stopped from any speed. So first order of business was to check for recalls and such which lead me to this forum. I found several posts on the steering shaft so back to the dealer the truck went. I must note I am the 2nd owner of the truck but still under warranty :flag: .

The dealer replace the shaft with the another shaft which never fixed anything. All the while still had the brake shakes. Then I found out from here about the new shaft and back to the dealer I went and on the truck it went.

And nothing, steering still knock and brakes still shook (I was just going to change the rotors with after market set).I then got a print out of all the work done on the truck while the 1st owner had it. And found the he had also had issues with the steering and brakes and had the shaft replaced as well as the rotors. At this point I was ready to take the truck and place it in the showroom the hard way. I then made a run to the service dept. and told them of my woes  . And after about 4 or 5 hours I got my back. They replaced the power steering assembly. After hearing this I remember reading a post on here about a problem with the power steering on certain models I forget which ones. So to make my long post longer....The truck drives GREAT I mean really GREAT :sigh: . No shaking from the brakes no knocking from the steering wheel. I have the parts numbers if anyone needs them just let me know. I would post them but I don't have them on me at the moment. Sorry if the post is too long its my first. Also wanted to say the this forum is great and packed with some great info. I would add a nice signiture with all my mods and truck info if I could figure out how to. Hope this helps someone.

Can you tell me more about how replacing the power steering pump resolved the brake issue?

My 04 had the steering shaft replaced at 20000km at 43 it started again as did my brake problem. I took it to the dealer and paid 79$ for a brake inspection just for them to tell me the brakes are "fine". THEY ARE NOT FINE. Basically all they did with the brakes was grease the sliders on the calipers... I could have done that in 10 minutes and saved 79$.. I wanted them to find out what the HECK was wrong with the brakes... sometimes when I apply the brakes it feels like im walking like a chicken with my head going back and forth.

It doesn't matter to me now, the new truck should be in Wednesday.

I had my doubts as well , but after they replaced the parts for the steering the shaking when I applied the brakes stopped. The p/n is 19133675 (steering gear rack and pinnion ) I thought that a pulsing/shaking from the brakes would only come from rotors being out of round or warped. Which is why I was just going to replace them. Before I took my truck in the steering was loose still had a clunk and the brakes shook. After I got it back it has been smooth as silk.
