You'll do just as good using Penzoil Platnium or Mobil1 and save some $$$ in doing so. My $.02.

I run Royal Purple in my Trail Rig and seems to run very well. However, it's needed due to the engine modifications I've done to it.

I run Mobil 1 in my '03 Silverado (which is staying stock) and save the few cents on the quart. Both rigs run a K&N Gold Oil Filter. If I was to have the extra few bucks, run a good full synthetic and get the best filter you can... Royal Purple isn't really needed on stock DD vehicles...

My Silverado gets an oil change every 3-3.5K (yes, even with the Mobil 1) and the Royal Purple gets changed out every other trail run or so. I could probably get more life out of the oils, but I just can't stand the fact that my oil has been in there for a large amount of miles. I honestly would rather spend the extra money than to think about it. I just don't get how people can sleep knowing that their engine oil has been in there for 10K miles?

Royal Purple is not a true synthetic. No engine oils are. A true synthetic is Phosphate Ester, very nasty stuff. It is used in heavy duty hydraulic systems. A true synthetic can not be used in an engine unless every gasket is replaced with an oil based gasket. A true synthetic would quickly eat away a synthetic gasket, within minutes. When you run dino oil you must use synthetic gaskets and when you run synthetic oil you must use dino based gaskets. Whenever you hear someone say "True Synthetic" it means that it's not a dino oil mix, but it is still derived from dino oils. Phosphate Ester has a specific gravity which is more than water meaning that if it gets on your skin it absorbs instantly and goes directly to the blood stream. It is a cancer causing agent as well. If you spill even a drop you must call EPA and then dig up the site of the spill before it gets into the groundwater. Very heafty fine as well. Next time someone selling snake oil (Amsoil and others) make sure they know what they are talking about. If they mention True Synthetic. they have no idea.

Through a lot of research, I have found a little known product called Liquid Engineers. IT gives you lubircation of the synthetics and the cushion of the Dino stuff. This product is used in most race engines and has been proven. Only problem is that you have to find a speciality shopto buy it from. For example, I get it from my engine builder, since he builds motors in the race industry, this is all he uses. Cost is about $7.50/qt., $.50 more than the purple stuff. If I didn't run the LE, I would run the Purple.

I used to run Mobil 1, but with the expense of the new motor, I have decided to run the best I could find.

It can be misleading.

Ok, now we are splitting hairs.
