Cost Of A 2/4 Drop?

I just put 18's on my 99+ silvy and it doesn't look like there is more than three inches left between the front tire and fender, so I was thinking a light 2/4 drop job would look nice. My question is, how much have people been spending for these things? I've been getting quotes of less than $1,000 to over $2,000.... I have 170,000 on it already so I know I can justify at least new shocks already ;)

oh yeah, and I was thinking:

front: spindles and new shocks (unless you think 2" coils would be OK)

back: hangars, shackles, new shocks.

suggestions?

just find a kit online you like. its another like 100 to install it. i did the spindles with shakles and hangers for about 500 installed no shocks though

sweet.

I was doing a 'bounce test' on the bumper yesterday and man oh man is it time. The get lots of bounce after I let off of the bumper. both up and down, and forward backward. Finally justification for new suspension. I'm wondering if I should go a bit lower.

Maybe I'll just spend a bit more and go 2" spindles, 1" coils, and then a 4" back end.

dude, i'm no mechanic but if you can turn a wrench you can do most of this by yourself. i put 2" drop spindles on the front and a set of hangers and shackles out back, but my truck set lower in the rear by about an inch so i took the hangers back off. just make sure that whatever you do take it and have a front end alignment done asap. spindles are way easier to install than coil springs are but if you pay someone to do it go all out. lol, jd

JD, that drop looks really good. What size rims are those? I blew out one of my tires last month and found some brand new 07 Denali Rims and tires (tires still had the nubs on them) for $500. It's a far cry from 20's, but better than my 16's... can't wait to get it lowered now.

on the drop... I was really surprised to hear the guys at the shop say this, but they told me he'd perfer that I just go with coils in the front and the shackle/hanger combo in the back for a 3/4 drop (I decided 3 instead of 2 in front). He said unless I want to go REALLY low, that's a good height to keep my OEM spindles because of the turning radius issues you get with after market ones. Did you notice any difference?

Including all materials, I should be in and out of the shop with new drop shocks, drop kit, and labor at around $700. I thought it sounded pretty good. I'm going to do it next month.
