I had my steering shaft relubed about 6 months agoand it is starting to do the rattle again. I seen on this forum site that there was a upgrade coming out or is out can someone give me the bulletin number or part number for this new and improved steering shaft so when i go to my dealer i can tell them about it if all they wanna do is grease it again.

Ya it is a TSB release for repairs to that shaft, Look at Fullsizechevy.com they have part numbers and the entire dealer notifications on that shaft ..GL

Just had mine done March 23 at the local dealer – replacement shaft. Took 1.5 hours and no charge even though I'm not under warranty anymore (2004 Suburban, 44,000 miles). No more clunking and the dealer offered to do it at their cost. No complaints.

Wow. The dealership is billing GM 1.5 hour for this job? I ordered the new shaft through gmpartsdirect.com and swapped it out myself in less than 30 minutes. Ok, probably 20 minutes if I didn't have to look for my torque wrench...

Had the new ISS installed last Monday - took less than 1 hour from the time they brought it in, installed the new ISS, washed it (actually ran it thru their small brushless wash) chamois dried it and handed me the keys. The RO shows time in at 7:36AM time out 8:29am.

My .02 a huge difference w/the new ISS I just hope it lasts... P/N installed is 19153614

Is anyone here doing the stroke the shaft fix? GM says instead of buying a lube kit or the new shaft you and extend and retract fuly 6-8 times and it will also fix the problem by drawing the lube back up in the shaft.

Untrue. The most current fix is the re-designed shaft.
