Where's The Egr?

Hi, I have a 2000 GMC Sierra and my EGR is in-between the airbox and the fan, with a hose running from the exhaust manifold to the EGR, then into the intake manifold. Looking at the newer 5.3 engines, all there is is a open spot on the exhaust manifold cover where the hose is supposed to be. Can someone please tell me where the EGR is in these new 5.3 engines? Thanks!

Alot of the new model engines do not have EGRs,the function of the EGR in some engines is being perform by the cam phasing,the ECM will advance or retard the camshaft to reduce emmissions and improve gas milage.

in 1996 the corvette LT4 engine did not need the EGR due to a change in the camshaft and a different ECM program,the lower power LT1 had the EGR.

My friend's GM EGR valves on a 5.3 engine feeds off the passenger side exhaust manifold. There is a flex pipe that leads right to it. Mounted to the front passenger side of the engine. Has a black flex hose that leads straight to the intake manifold. You can see it better if you remove the air cleaner tube and/or filter box... Hope this information helps... Goodluck!!!
