Global Warming?

So it has been snowing here all day. Snowing in deep east Texas, in the Piney Woods, where we have already had 90 degree weather. If this is global warming, I would hate to be here for an ice age. But yeah, its snowing pretty good here at times.

In any case, I don't buy into that whole global warming crap. The climate fluctuates, its not permanently set in stone.

I know how you feel man, this cold front sucks!

If there's one thing I hate about living in Texas, it's the retarded ass weather. It was perfect on Tuesday, no clouds, small breeze, 80+ degrees. Now it's just miserable... raining, windy, and just above freezing. And it always seems like this bulls**t rolls in right on the weekend. :D

Dude I believe in Global Warming, I just don't believe in Man-Made Global Warming (unless you count all the hot air coming out of Al Gore's mouth).

Same thing up here. 25 degrees when it was 80 earlier this week. And i just got back from Mexico where it was 85!

I dont believe in all this crap either. The climate will fix itself.

I'll beleive in global warming when it doesnt snow a flake during winter/spring.

I think it does this every year. It'll get warm around spring break, everything looks really nice, then it rains and snows and everything sucks, a 4 day cold front ends up being 2 weeks ect.

ditto on it ain't human caused. Cyclical earth climate changes, there hasn't been just one cooling and one warming, over 50 cycles.

Of course when you've invented the internet, the god like powers in ya just has to save the earth, nay the universe from the evils of mankind themselves. Harness the cow farts for hybrid vehicles, two cows strapped to the roof of every Prius and you wouldn't even have to use petroleum products in the tank. Remember to pay Terra Pass for your carbon footprint, afterall all that inventin' the internet and savin the world stuff cost $$. Thank the forces everywhere that an Oscar winner is willing to sacrifice himself by via schill corporation in maintaining 10% ownership in TerraPass.

Exactly. Course the climate changes, anyone see the movie Ice Age??? but seriously, the climates do fluctuate on their own, and I'm sure pollution doesn't really help anything along, but getting all worked up about a 1/2 degree change over a century is just plain stupid. God has a pretty funny sense of humor, with all the blizzards that followed Gorey around these past few months.

Now, I think I will go have a styrofoam bonfire and not recycle any paper.

Funny how easy these politicians are able to control the topics we discuss..And even the thoughts we have ..

Maybe someday a big amount of people will decide ,, Politicians should be paid 2.5 million a year and all news out lets must allow free air time as a public service to reelection campaigns..And any speeches and statements would be paid by the tax payers during the elected officials term,,Let them now go off topic or support special interest groups ! The Tax payers would pay a hefty amount of attention when it is there dime on the air waves !

Imagine how corruption would vanish and how news out lets would not allow B/S to be broadcast because it would look like stealing tax dollars ! Oil companies , Auto companies and other huge businesses would be forced to get public support instead of just a few politicians because we the tax payer would own the politicians as we are meant to . .. .

Oh Global warming LOL , , , Ummmm ya whatever ,, with out it we would be so backwards horse and buggy would rule and with it wherever it came from we are better off . . So hey who cares . .

I watch the National Geographic channel alot and and it was talking about Ice Ages, There has been several of them...the last one is refered to as the European Ice Age it happened around medievel times. It caused alot of famine and heres one we all know "the Black Plague" According to some scientist we are way over due for another severe climate shift. It is just nature, the earth is slowly moving away from the sun and slowly rotating off its axis of coarse it is going to get colder

    • The filtering to wear relationship goes like this:      'Relative Engine Life "Factor" new divided by the factor old. So 8/3= 2.67. That result is the multiplier thus if a motor had an effective life of 100K using a filter with a 45 micron rating at a Beta ratio of 75 then a filter with a micron rating of 10 at a Beta of 75 would improve expected engine life to 267,000 miles.    Wear metals are an indirect indicator. Less is better and the motor lives longer but there isn't a multiplier like there is for filtration so well documented. Most of that has to do with the sensitivity of the wear metals tests themselves. The read a 'slice' of the spectrum but not the absolute values for the entire spectrum. So a general indicator that is used WITH the results of other tests. Two others considered in this post.    There is also the influence of corrosive wear which may be seen in the wear metals but separate from load based or viscosity mitigated indication. It's a small graph but the gray line is wear vs the TBN/TAN crossover. Not as useful as it used to be as there are now new chemistries for acid remediation that don't show up in standard UAO testing. They will catch up or be found liars. Only two possible outcomes, eh?
    • One thing that comes up over and over is that the torque converters are the weak link. Many of the failed transmissions have the same thing in common. The torque converter grenades and then metal torque converter shards end up destroying the transmission. One of the best things you can do is if your transmission is still fully functional, change out to one of the aftermarket billet torque converters. There are several good choices mentioned in different threads here to make your choice. After that, then you can decide about trans tuning. My trans failed at around 95,000 miles. It got replaced under the GM protection plan. The remanufactured trans comes with a 100,000 mile /3 year warranty. I still have just under 1 year left. So far, so good. As long as it's still working good next year, an aftermarket torque converter is going to get installed early spring. If the trans and OEM torque converter fail by then, I will get it replaced under warranty and immediately have an aftermarket torque converter installed. A warranty replacement trans of a replacement trans will no longer have the warranty so I will bulletproof it from the get go.
    • You got'a be cooking right now. Just looked at the weather map. Yuck!    We are right back to $4 today.
    • Pushing $4.00 a gallon in most places, still $3.75 in town but it's going to spike tomorrow for sure.   Diesel back up to $4.60-5.00.
    • I really appreciate the response.  I guess I was confused about torque angle vs torque angle yield.  The individual bolts don't have a warning on reuse but the part number for the LCA nuts does.   Regarding the purpose of the moog grease fittings on their bolts .. Guessing to reduce possibility of corrosion locking the cams or seizing to the bushing inserts.
