Hey guys,

I am looking into buying a NBS Sierra and need a little input about pricing, options, and all that jazz.

I am eligible for the GM employee (supplier) discount and am looking at purchasing at the end of the year. I am thinking that incentives will be better, and I will have more money to put down on the truck.

I have already spoken to a dealer and they said that I can get 5% below invoice and another $1250 off of that. Does that sound right?

I am also looking at an SLE2 which gives me power seats that I need (I am 6-6") and the only option that I will take above that is the 20" wheels.

Are there any other options that I should consider? Are there any others that you wouldn't want to go without?

Well, at any rate, I guess I have dragged this on long enough. What do you guys think? Any input is appreciated.

With that kind of pricing, go with the SLT, you won't be disappointed. I got the SLT Crewcab 4x4 with the 6.0, Sunroof, 20" wheels, side airbags, Rear Locker, Z82 trailering pkg, Skid Plates and engine block heater for invoice ($39K, no supplier pricing for me) and $2000 in rebates and 0% for 36 months. Total was 37K + TTL.

Oh, I also added the following accessories:

Remote Start $262

Access Tonneau $425

Line-X Spray in bedliner $450

GM 6" oval stainless steel sidesteps $600

GM Chrome Hood protector $156

Luverne SSTL mudflaps (20" front and 23" rear) to protect my boat. $125

Carriageworks brand Aluminum Billet Grille $200

Putco Chrome mirror covers (full) $100

Weathertech front floor liners $100

Thanks for the quick reply.

I guess I should have said that I am looking to stay around 32,000 or below + TTL. With my discount, I should be able to get a few more options above SLE2 and stay at that mark (I think)

You have got to tell us what you want to do with the truck? Do you need cab space or bed space? Are you doing any towing? Do you need a special options? That is like saying I want to buy a computer, which one should I get? The $500 model or the $5000 model.

I am pretty much set on the crew cab. Not because I have a family or anything, but because they are handy when you do need to haul people around. I would like to get 3.73's and a 6.0 if possible (not necessary)...not for hauling trailers, but for being able to haul a little more ass. I don't need leather or DVD players or bose subwoofers in the center console.

I guess I am more interested in learning about pricing and how to get the most for the money. I have never bought a new truck and I was jst wondering how to handle things.

You probable won't be able to get a crew cab and a 6.0l for your price point. I would highly recommend 5.3L, the towing package, and gears. Steering wheel controls for the radio are nice too. These (and the power driver seat) are the only options I got on my truck and haven't really missed anything else.

Yeah, a 6L was on the wish list, but I don't think it will happen either.

I am thinking of waiting tilol the end of the year for 2 reasons:

1) I will have about $10,000 saved up to put down.

2) I think the incentives will be a little better then.

Does anyone know if I can get year end incentives on top of the supplier discount?

Matt, I am also eligible for supplier discounts and at the time I checked on it, you could not double dip. In fact, the incentives were deeper than the supplier discount.

By the way, you do realize that you cannot just go out an buy a new Sierra without buying all of your buddies at GM-Trucks.com one also?

You are gonna love that new truck.

Lol,

That might be possible if they come out with the new body style in Hot Wheel format pretty soon.

I was afraid that I would not be able to double dip on discounts. So at the end of the year, it is very possible that I could get a better discount than my supplier discount?

Also, I have been hearing the rumor that the A6 will be coming out in '08. Will this be a lot better than the A4 as far as mpg? Would I be better off going with the A4 '07 and getting a better price at the end of the year?

I really appreciate all of the help. Any other suggestions would be great.

I have a loaded SLE-2. The 5.3L motor (what I have)is a great power/gas mileage combo. The 6.0L is a must have if you love power and tow more.

Stay away from the sunroof ( I am 6'3" tall and it ate up too much space for me to get one) The sunroof glass in the crew cab models eats up a lot of head room.

Auto air is a nice cheaper option (set it and forget it) and ts only around $195

Backup rear parking sensor turned out to be a good move. Works well especialy with the limited rear visablility of my new shell.

Power folding mirrors were also a good move.

Post pictures later when you get it!!!

Thanks a lot. Now that is some of the input that I am looking for.

I definitely will post a lot of pics when I get it.

I don't understand this? Are you saying the headliner is lower on Crewcabs that have the sunroof that retracts into the roof?

I bought my 04 in August of 04 when the rebates where the highest, right before the new models where hitting the showroom. I used all of the rebates ($7k), the supplier price, and $1k in dealer coupons (which the dealer is not supposed to do with supplier pricing). That is how I got my $32k stickered truck for <$22k.

Where did you get your truck? I am in Lake Dallas, and think I could make a little drive for a deal that good.

I just found a website that lets you build your truck and tells you what you should be getting with the supplier discount. It actually told me about an extra $1000 off that the dealer was holding back on.

Here it is : http://www.gmbuypower.com/index.jsp?&p...erType=GMSUPPLR

I am really interesed to find out more on this dealer. Can you PM me the name of the dealer and the salesman?

    • So.  Get this.  On the Chevy regular cab, you can get the factory remote start at the dealer from the accessories catalog.  BUT.  GMC, you can't.   Now...get this...GMC 2 door, you CAN get the power seat.     Go.  Figure.   Anywho.  are you trying to order?  Or locate?  Ordering for 2 door 1/2 tons has been stopped as of April or May?  So you won't be able to order.  You'll have to shop on the ground units or in transit units.     Ordering was stopped because the new trucks are coming.
    • Thank you.  I really appreciate the well wishes.  I'm an engineer in the telecom industry, I know hardly anything about marketing.  Over the years I did some videos for nonprofits and web sites for small businesses and the seed was planted.  Agree with over-buying, I started shooting on an iPhone before I got my first DSLR and tripod.   I'm looking at trucks with potentially 150,000+ miles to keep the cost of entry low while focusing on the client experience and equipment.  Good wireless mics for interviews, the right lenses & lighting to look professional.  But I don't want to be late or break down, the stress of emptying a trailer & securing a rental truck right before a gig would negate any savings from buying a junker.  So anything that leaks water, has extensive rust, or generally unreliable I'd like to avoid.   Does GM/Chevy overbuild these trucks for upfitting?  I talked to a local upfitter, they sometimes tie lights & other 12V into existing circuits, which I always thought was bad.  Which is why I enjoyed the AUX upfit switches on previous trucks (odd they mostly come with off-road or work truck packages).
    • i guess it might be depending on the type of driving. my 2.7 has 120k miles, changed the plugs at 70k and it runs as good as new. i have not used any injector cleaner
    • GM's are stainless and have a fairly robust powder coating, although, still not worth $850 in my opinion. They will hold up a lot better than their cheaper steel aftermarket counterparts.   What I like about the GM step bars is dealers will often equip their dealer stock with them. Lots of margin. Which means a lot of people end up buying them because they're already on the truck, even if they don't like them. So it's pretty easy to find brand new takeoffs with hardware on Marketplace and Craigslist for about $250.   That's what I did for my crew cab. I wanted ZR2 rock rails for the look, but with the ability to bolt up GM's assist step package. From GM it's about a $2500 accessory all in. The old folks in my life can't get in the truck without steps. I found the whole package on marketplace for $180.
    • I am really glad I found this post and this site... We have a 2022 1500 refresh LTZ that has these problems: - forward collision avoidance warning light - lane keep assist unavailable - adaptive cruise control unavailable   The truck was bought as a new leftover in 2023, so it was still under the 3/36 B to B when it went in for these problems earlier this year. It has been at the dealer on and off now for about 110 days now. These are some of the things they have done that I can read on the service tickets. - replace/add ground straps (4) - check all battery cables and vlts - replace serial data gateway module - replace front view camera - numerous reprogramming - a few calibrations (apparently ending with 'learned') Last week when I had it back the truck had those 3 warnings every time we used it except for 3 times. On three separate occasions the truck started and ran perfectly with no (zero) warning messages or warning lights lit - everything worked perfectly. Over that same time period the truck did not work on every other 'key' cycle which I would estimate at 60+ cycles. On those estimated 57 cycles it had the same 3 problems each and every time.   It is back at the dealer now - can anyone help at all with what the true problem might be?  Or possibly what can be ruled out leaving a lower number of possibilities? Thank you very much for any help you may be able to supply....
