I have in the last two weeks or so had a loud squeeking noise from under my truck at first i thought it was the brakes but it seems to becoming from about the middle of the truck , lastnight i had my son walk along beside it as i was moving very slow and he said the same thing as i did , i even have it when the brake is on so any idear as to what it is ? would the drive shaft make any kind of sound like that ? Please Help ! as it is driving me nuts !!

hey man, i feel your pain. i had the same problem with my 06. you want believe what it ended up being. there is a grounding strap between the frame and body right by the cab bushing mounts that had rubber washers, i replaced these with regular washers and now i have no squeaks at all. i to thought it might be the brakes, or even the cab bushings maybe working their way loose but just the washers. go figure. check it out hopefully it is as easy a fix as mine was. lol, jd

Nope it doesn't have a two piece drive shaft , and i don't think its the body mounts but i will check them out , it's a sound that you can tell is turn ( hard to explain) around just if it was a brake but its in the center of the truck .

How about the front U-joint on the driveshaft?

It's dif. comeing from the rear of the truck my son talked to a guy he works with at a garage who used to work at a GMC dealership and told him it might be the rear U-joint , will the make noise before they go ? the shaft feels tight , there's no play in it so ?

Lloyd, did you find out the cause of the squeaking? I just developed the same charistics as you. I narrowed down to the drive shaft. The squeaking is so loud and the shaft helps by echoing, so it is difficuit to determine if it is the front u-joint, carrier bearing or the rear. My suspicion is the same as Peters, U-joint.
