Just got a 02 1500HD Crew 98000 miles with 33's and wanted to see what you all could tell me about it. What should I start doing to it for best results and what should I look for that goes bad or needs to be changed out. Just want to get to know my truck and start really enjoying it.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!!

You picked a nice truck! Your truck being a 1500HD would have the 6.0L and 3.73 rear gears.... That is a great combo for all around driving...

Don't go crazy trying to free up the exhaust, because that motor needs back pressure to make low end power. The best thing you can do fo it is a custom tune. That will gain you somewhere around 20-25 HP and you can have the torque management removed if you wish. (GM has a built in system that removes HP/torque under heavier acceleration... ie torque mgmnt.) By removing it or turnign it back with a custom tune, you will improve your power and acceleration.

Enjoy your new ride, and feel free to ask questions! BTW don't expect great economy numbers.... the 3.73's will help, but low teens per tank will be the norm!

Thanks Alot for taking the time to respond I was starting to think no one would. That is alot of good info and I didnt expect to get much better gas mileage I came from a 98 yukon 4x4 5.7 so it was about 9 mpg anything better then that is good. What tuner do you recommend and do you think that I would be alright just putting the dual outlet flowmaster on and bringing a couple pipes to the back?

Welcome.

9 MPG from your old Yukon seems like it was pretty bad, I average about 14 with my '98 350. Good luck with the new truck, it should average better then 9 MPG's for you.
