Msd Coil Pak

My dad has a friend that worls at MSD and they are coming out with a coil pak for my 04' GMC sierra 4.8L. Has any one used there coil paks, and if so, did you notice any difference in performance or gas mileage? I have several bolt on mods and a PCM tune and was just wondering if this may be my next mod. Thanks!

not worth it.. the stock ignition system is really good on these trucks..

I would have to agree with Drew. When I look under the hood of my 1971 I see one coil. If you think about it, we have 1 coil per cyl now doing the job that one coil per 8 used to do. I could only see an advantage to the MSD coils if you were really running some radical mods, larger camshaft, higher compression, headers, larger TB etc. And even then, it would be questionable.

 

Just my thoughts.

Thanks guys. I talked to a few programmers and they all agreed that GM makes some good coils. The MSD would be a good replacement if the stock one's went out.

Every time this question is asked, including by me, there's all kinds of folks that say that there not worth it. Problem is that none of these people who reply has actually spent the time or money on the product. I'm looking for the same information the original poster is, REAL LIFE information from people who have PURCHASED the product.

They are pretty expensive, especially when you need 8 coils. I'm a fan of replacing parts with better ones, but I don't know how much better than can be for $600+ more.
