Mystery 10 Ga Coiled Red Wire In Nbs 2500?

Hello,

I have an 07 NBS Sierra 2500 HD. There is what appears to be a couple feet of heavier guage red wire looped up and secured by electrical tape in the engine compartment near the firewall. Does anyone know what this might be for? Thanks in advance... I'll try to get a picture soon.

that wire is part of the trailer tow pkg.

there is another one wraped in the loom between the fuse box and

the fender

If you take the cover off the fuse box you will see 2

studs on the front towards the head lights that do not have any wires on them

that is where they go you will need a 6mm and a 8mm nut to attach them

you will also need to install a fuse for 1 of them

the other is all ready in place

Great thanks, exactly what do they power when the wires are hooked up? Do those studs have +12 coming from them or something? Again thanks for the help.

Amazing, we pay for the trailer package and they leave the wires disconnected. WHy would they do that? I noticed they didn't include a pig tail for a brake controller either, at least on my NBS

I ran into this same issue when adding the Brake Controller to my new Sierra. Ended up taking it to the dealer for them to get it wrking. I had attached the pg-tail from the Brake Controller under the dash, and connected the red wire, added the fuse and the nut for the stud and it still didn't work. Turned out it was not connected under the dash some place! The owner's manual was worthless! Fortunately, the dealership felt as I did that if it came wired from the factory for a Brake Controller then the wires should all be connected! They took care of it as a warranty item at no charge!

If you order the Integrated Brake controller they do connect the wires under the hood. Also because of the IBC they no longer have a plug in under the dash for the brake conroller, instead they have wires stubbed out on the left side of the dash just about where the IBC resides.
