helloo everyone,

1) what defines the difference between HD and LD. i cant seem to find any info on the 1998 sierra, it has the huge 7.4L motor, it is ex-cab and 6' bed. i can say it is a retired State of Florida law enforcement vehicle.

2) it has DRL. sometimes i hate them. is there a way to override them? the 06 silverado i drive at work has a button you press right by the headlamp switch to cut them off. is there an application like that OR does anyone know what wire i can tap into to add a toggle switch? i have tried to read the wiring scematic and i can't make heads or tails of it.

3) i have a phantom leak in the cab..... it will rain and it will let water in. the step covers that run alon the door edge to cover the edge of the carpet (vinyl) and the wires that run to the back (speakers etc) is removed because it was damaged, here is where i notice the water collecting. i nitice it mostly when it sitn during a rain storm as opposed to when i am driving. i checked around the door, but the rubber seems ok, a little aged but it seems to seal. i also checked the drivers side rear pop-out window and although it seems most likely to be the weak point, the floor padding below it is bone dry. the only place that the padding is wet is along the drivers door edge and the area under the drivers feet, not even under the seat gets wet. i have looked up under the dash, and the only place i could see was a hole in the firewall, i would agree that this might be possible when the vehicle is in motion, as it is rather high up on the firewall, but stationary i doubt. it has also been filled with sealer prior to me noticing the leak. are there any common places that leak on these trucks? someone mentioned the windshield frame is notorious for leaking.

thanks,

the only question i can help you with here would be the question about the DRL's

I have a 97 silverado and i was able to simply remove the fuse from the fuse panel on drivers side dash ( you see it on the dash when door is open)

on the cover for the fuse panel there should be a diagram that should tell you which one controls the DRL's

hope this helps

that will work, i just do not want to disable them all the time. i was thinking about adding a small toggle switch, but i would need to know what wire controls the DRLs.

It seems to me that if pulling the fuse that controls the DRLs accomplishes your objective but you don't want to disable the DRLs all the time then simple toggle the lead to the fuse panel. Switching the toggel will be the equivelent of pulling the fuse but allows you to switch back (put the fuse back in) when you want.

On my 97 gm I only have to put the Park brake down one click to turn off the daytime running lights. Learnt it from a hunter
