Roof Light Wiring?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've put my Back Rack on my truck, and I am now trying to figure out how to wire up my code 3 420 mini light bar to hook up to the aux roof light switch in the cab (came with plow prep package). Can anyone tell me where the wire is routed, what color it is, and the best way to access it outside the cab? It will be mounted on my backrack.

Thanks,

Matt

It runs up the pillar on the drivers side. You might be able to pull the 3rd brake cover and take a coat hanger and pull the wires out toward ya.

Thats right CT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

03 If you recheck out that link you will see pics of one of the plowguys who fished the wire out of the headliner and ran it out thru the 3rd eye brake light. Sure its gonna be a PIA to fish out

but it can be done without the hassle of dropping the headliner !

The wires your looking for are brown+ and black-. They run along

the floor along the drivers side and up the left rear post (aka B pillar

on a reg. cab or x-cab).

If you can pull the edge of the headliner down on the drivers side .

The wires are blunt cut and coiled above the headliner over the drivers side.

Find the wires over the drivers side headliner. Take off 3rd eye brake light and run a fish to the wires and pull them back out the hole.

Thats the easiest way.......................

Don't forget to put a fuse in stud #2 tp power the circuit up.

Seen/done/advised this FUN PIA job on many trucks for the other

GM snowplow truck guys over at letstalksnow.com

Have fun and post if your stumped............geo
