Whining Hum Noise

I believe this topic has been discussed before, but I'm searching for as many opinions as possible. I have a whining hum noise coming from somewhere towards the front end of my 05 Silverado. Its become really annoying. I have had the steering gear(s) replaced twice within the last 5,000 miles and no luck yet. The last repair was yesterday and the noise dissappeared for about 3 hours. I'm taking it back in on Monday but was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on what to look at.

 

I've got a list...lol that I'm going to run through with the techs on Monday. So far: (1) power steering pump (2) power steering box (3) belt idler pulley (4) belt tensioner (5) any worn bearings on the pulleys or alternator.

 

As anyone had any luck with Royal Purple's synthetic power steering fluid, I've heard its good stuff and has helped with muting the noise at least somewhat. I will greatly appreciate any input guys. Hope everyone has a good evening and a great weekend.

I just flushed my P/S pump with Royal Purple MaxEZ. Took the whine out of my system immediately. I use a fluid extractor and pump out & refill 4-5 times. I got the Max EZ off Amazon for $8/qt. I highly recommend it.

My 05 makes a humming noise when the brakes are applied .

Thanks for the input guys, I really do appreciate it. I think I'm going to order some of the Royal Purple power steering fluid in the event it begins to whine again. I took it back to the dealership today and they actually found that the front seal on the power steering pump was sucking air and replaced the pump for me. The truck is still under warranty which is always nice and hopefully that will be a permanent fix. Hope everyone has a goodnight.
