How To Remove Air Dam?

So I hit a deer this morning on my way to work and the only things (that I can see so far) that were damaged were my air dam and my driver side fog light. I know the air dam is held to the bumper by a series of plastic retaing clips. My question is, how iin the hell do I get those retaining clips out without cutting them off? I'd like to reuse them with my new air dam so I won't have to buy new ones.

They're basically plastic pins that insert into a plug. When the pin is fully depressed, the plug swells to lock the air dam on. Slip a flat blade screwdriver or similar flat, thin object under the edge of the pin (but not the edge of the plug that surrounds the pin) and pry it outwards. It will eventually pop out and then you can remove the plug that is holding the dam on to the truck.

 

Not a very technical explanation but it's pretty simple once you get down there and see how it's put together.

If you buy the OEM air dam you gety new retainers in the box with the air dam.

Yes, but you still need to remove the old dam. And popping these retainers with a screwdriver is a PITA - I have done it when installing the foglights. Also, the lowest part of the dam (the extension) is detachable and even bigger pain to remove. You need to pry each locking part out gently with a screwdriver. This lower piece is separate and does not come with the new dam.
