Hoping To Order An 08

I did a bit of shopping around today and am hoping to order an 08 1500 crew cab Z71 4x4 with the 6.0L and 3.73. It'd be an LT2 and have the locker, the 18" wheels, 6 disc cd in dash, the 2LT convenience package which has the remote starter; power mirrors; and heated washer fluid, the rear audio controls, towing package, ez lift tailgate, and integrated trailer controller as options. The msrp was $39,700 and the GM supplier price was $36,087. I plan on ordering this as the options with the 6.0L seem hard to find on a truck, especially with the 08's just coming out. I'm curious what guys with 07 V-max crews paid for theirs if they don't mind sharing, and if anyone has ordered a truck before and knows if there's room for haggling on the supplier price. Thanks.

Sure, I'll share....

Here is what I ordered back in Jan, and received in March:

2007 GMC Sierra SLT Crewcab 4x4, 6.0 (L76 option) VortecMax, 3.73's

20" wheels (P60) with Z60 HP suspension pkg.

Sunroof

G80 Rear Locker

Side curtain Airbags

Z82 trailering Pkg

Skid Plates

Engine Block Heater

I paid Invoice.

Invoice was $38,929

Less $2000 in rebates ($1000 Trade-in allowance, $1000 Loyalty rebate), 0% for 36 months

Total: $36,929

I then spent about $2K in dealer installed accessories:

6" Chrome (over stainless) Step bars, about $600

Line-X, about $450

Access Tonneau cover (NOT GMs version), about $450

Remote Start, Came "prepped", but I didn't want conv. pkg (Rear park assist and Power pedals) so added it "Ala Carte". About $250

Hood Deflector, about $150

I then added these myself after delivery:

32% window tint from Ziebart on front door windows

Weathertech floor liners (Highly recommmended)

Luverne SSTL mudflaps

Carriageworks Billet Grill

Putco Chrome mirror covers (full covers)

I think that's it.

Thanks guys. I'm hitting another place today that a friend has a contact with, so we'll see what they say. As for my 99, I put a sign in the window at work and got a few folks asking about it, but mom and dad's next door neighbor said he wants to take her off my hands, which is going to work out very well as he's not in a super hurry to have her.

d**n...that truck looks paid for too! :driving:

All I can think about is paying off the 6K I have left on mine. It's gotta last me a while.

Yeah, My 2000 GMC Z71 Ext cab I had was in that nice of shape too, it was black and in showroom condition with ZERO dings, scratches or anything, shined like new, waxed twice a year. In fact, when I told my brother I ordered a new one and was trading her in, he immediately put his 99 up for sale and sold it so he could buy mine. We did a "dealer pass through", so I could still get my sales tax savings and the trade-in allowance. It had 90K miles on her, probably about 100K now. He loves it. What's sad is not only was it paid for, but it has been since it was about 1 1/2 years old (mid-2001). I had to give my truck ($11.5K), $11K cash....Plus I financed $18K and am paying $500/mo for the next 36 months (actually only 32 months left...yippee...LOL). d**n, why did they have to come out with such a nice truck!!! haha.

Here is a pic of my old 2000:

How did that work for you? The 1 dealer yesterday mentioned that they could take in my 99 to save me the sales tax and then sell directly to my folks' neighbor.

I think I might drop an ls-2 in her at some point because the wife says I gotta make do with it for a long time yet. :driving:

That's exactly what we did. Technically, I traded it in for $11,500, The dealer then sold it to my brother for $11,500 plus a $250 "administration fee" (hey, they had to make something on the deal, right?). I saved $11,500 worth of sales tax = $750, which I would have charged my brother if I had sold it to him anyway (I would have sold it to him for $12,250). He had to pay sales tax (the same as if I had charged him for losing my tax savings). Basically, it cost him $250 extra, but I got my $1000 trade-in allowance rebate. And, no, I did not share it with him....LOL

My dealer was actually kinda bummed. Here's why....Most dealers in town were only willing to give me about $9K for my truck and would sell to me at invoice. I told my dealer if he gave me 12K AND sold to me at invoce, i would sign the papers. he agreed, but we ended up at $11.5K..Oh well. The reason he was willing to give me $2500 more than the others was based on the mint condition of my truck coupled with the fact he had ZERO used trucks on his lot in that year/price range. All he had were 2004+ used trucks, so he wanted it badly. It really would have sold off his lot for about $14K I am guessing based on my research.

Jeff, thanks for the information. I just called the 1 dealer and the pass through seems like a very tempting idea to me now as long as they're not going to screw over the folks' neighbor in buying my 99.
