hi... here is my problem.. i have a thumping or clunking feeling coming from the rear axle area.. this can be felt rather than heard.. this only happens when at a complete stop and letting off the brake pedal... it can be eithier a hard or slight thump, depending on how hard or soft you get on the brakes before stopping and then releasing the brake pedal.. it doesnt do it if i lightly tapp or press the brake pedal a few times before stopping.. what could this be?

sorry, I'm not sure, I would start by shacking it down,

put it up on a lift and see if anything is loose.

Like the ubolts for the leaf springs, shackels, etc.

That is what I would try first. at least

I'm kind of confused reading you dilema. The clunk you feel is while you are at a dead stop and when you let off the brake?

yes, when the van is stopped.. i feel a clunk or thump in the rear-end as i release the brake pedal, this is while i am driving the van, it happens at a stop sign or stop light and it is before i get back on the gas to go

Kind of sounds like play in the driveline. My old '94 did the same thing. I would not worry about it.
