Were would you guys go to get your A/C charged back up? I would like to do it myself but don't want to risk damaging the compressor. Justin

the better kits have a pressure gauge on them. don't go over the redline and you'll be fine. I've done it a couple of times ona few different vehicles. - seems like if you get the pressure to ~40 it seems to work every time.

if you're really uncomfortable with doing it yourself, pretty much any reputable shop should be able to top you off for less than $50 (assuming your air works now, and is just low on r134a)

I may have to correct myself, the shops around here charge $150 for a freon fill - and that's WITHOUT evacuating an pressure testing the system first!

yikes. - now I'd really have to say get a bottle yourself and do it. If I only had to top it off once a year - and it only took one of the small cans to do it - it would take 5 years for that shop to pay for itself.

last time I looked it was like $30 for the kit and like 15-20 for a can.

Unfortunately - I do not know the answer to your question. I, too, am having a/c problems with my 2001 Tahoe.
