Loud Ticking Noise Solved

2000 Sierra 5.3 auto. Here is an update of repair. A while back, I had posted a question in regards to a valve lifter type noise when starting truck. As I accelerated at speeds from zero to 6o km/hour, you could hear a loud ticking noise. Got a little better when trucked warmed up but still there. Hi way speeds seemed to make it disappear. Thanks for the replies. Anyway, after checking for exhaust leaks and donut leaks, I took the truck to the dealership. They couldn't find anything wrong, but charged me $100 to clean the mass air flow sensor. Noise still there. Another mechanic suggested carbon build up from diving around city all the time. I didn't think this could be the problem, but followed his advice as had nothing to loose. He suggested taking truck on hi way for at least 3 hour trip one way, and putting in 2 bottles of fuel injector cleaner. Also add the cleaner for the next two tank fulls. We had to take our fifth wheel on a trip so this was a good test. After the 2 hour drive one way, we came home, and the noise was almost gone.We took another 2 hour trip the next w/end (not pulling), at about 120 km/hour, and now the ticking noise has completely disappeared. The mechanic said these high compression engines can carbon up easily. Anyway, if anyone has this problem, and cannot find any other solution (exhaust leak???) try this solution. My truck is now tick free.
