I hope you can help me since 2 diffrent dealers can't ,i have been looking at the 07' GMC's and the Chevy 1500's can you tell me what is the plow prep pkg and what is diffrent then say the Z71 susp. , the GMC dealer said that there would be no problem with putting a 7 1/2 Ft RD plow on it as long as it would be used for my driveway and not out plowing parking lots (which i won't be) the chevy dealer said i would need the plow prep pkg. but coulded really tell me why just that he thought it had bigger shocks in the front along with a bigger swaybar both trucks have the Z71 and the tow pkg.are extra cabs and are SLE2 and LT2 pkgs. i thought that the Z71 came with the bigger stuff ? any help on clearing this up for me would be great ! Thank You

The plow pkg is a regular cab #2500 and it gets different torsion bars, shocks, trans cooler, skid plates,160A alternator, wiring for roof warning light & more. I believe its VYU plow provisions.

The chevy dealer said that this pkg. does come on some ext. cabs and crew cabs but he guessed that they didn't have any on the lot at that time , you can get the plow pkg. on the 1500 w/t and the SLE1 an LT1 but doesn't say for sure if it has to be a reg. cab or not , the new 1500 don't have the t-bars anymore so guess that isn't it and both trucks i looked at had the trans coolers , skid plates etc. the one thing they didn't have is the 160 amp alt. but i really can't see that being that big a deal, i have a 2500HD now and to be honest it isn't that great a plow rig and it has the plow pkg. etc. on it i really don't need the 2500 since all i do is plow my own driveway in the winter and with are winters lately it isn't that often ! i don't tow anything , (sometimes a snowmobile in the winter) it is more of a daily driver never go off-road with it ( have a jeep for that) . but what i would like to know is the or are the shocks or what ever any bigger then the ones on the Z71off road pkg. ? if its just the 160amp alt. and wiring for the lights then i really can't see how they would not warrenty the truck if something went wrong with it. Thanks for the input !

You didn't specifies GMT800 or 900 so i just went with the 800 but the GMT900 will have heavier front springs.
