Just Ordered All My Accessories For My '08 Silvy

Recommended Posts

So I just ordered all of my accessories for my new '08 Silverado. It's an 5.3L LT 4x4 with the Z60 performance package. It should be a fun truck. Here are the accessories I'm getting:

  • GMPP Dual Outlet Performance Catback Exhaust
  • GM Colour-keyed front grille
  • GM chrome handles
  • GM chrome mirrors
  • GM chrome sill protectors
  • GM chromed stainless 6" oval steps
  • GM stainless bed rail pocket hooks
  • GM bed liner

When I told my parts guy I wanted the exhaust system, he went back to talk to our service manager to ask how much installation would be. I could hear the service manager say to him in the back, "why the hell is he buying a new exhaust system for a brand new truck?" Then my parts guy goes, "what does it matter, he's buying parts."

Sometimes the city I live in makes me sick. It's all just silver econoboxes here and it is definately prevalent in our chevy dealer as I could tell from the conversation these two guys were having. Anyway, I'm very pumped to get delivery of this thing. I'm going to drive over to the service manager and rev it up for him, he probably won't care though being as he probably drives an old base level cavalier. I'll definately post pictures once I get it in case anyone is interested in the accessories I've ordered.

How much did they charge for the exhaust? It is made by Borla, I have heard the Corsa system is better. But it's spendy. Almost $1K for a dual rear exit catback set-up. I have also heard the GMPP (Borla) system interferes with the spare tire, I have a hard time believing this, but since they are installing it, I guess it aint your problem, unless they deliver it to you with the spare in the bed. lol

  • I got the exhaust for $850 CDN installed.

  • I have also heard the Corsa system is better, but there hasn't really been a comparison I've read about that directly relates the two on this new truck, and also, I want to put it in with my truck payments to make life a little easier as GM now allows you to throw accessories in with your new vehicle price if you buy them when the vehicle is new.

  • Unfortunately, the system does interfere with the tire but since I generally stow the tire in the bed anyway to keep it away from the salt, this is not much of an issue to me.

I would really like the Corsa system from all that I've heard, but I'm optimistic that Borla will make a near equal system.

Heres a list of things to do to get back at the people with econboxes.

1- Buy a Duramax

2- Put a programer and a performance exhaust on it.

3- Put your foot to the floor :wtf: and see what they think of that!

Those thing will leave a pretty good cloud of black smoke when you get on em.

What colour did you get? My 08 is on order, probably another 4 weeks.

I probably would've gotten a Line-X or Rhino spray-in bed protector. Mine kept warping and the rails were coming off so I tore it all off and got my truck Line-Xed. I don't regret it in the bit, looks a ton better and I'm always getting compliments from the other construction guy. Even my boss takes every oppurtunity he can to check it out haha, he was thinking about having it done on his 06 F-150, which is also warping pretty badly.

My new truck is victory red. I also ordered it from the factory as per my specs. All my accessories just came in today. I really want to get that exhaust system on it!

The GMPP does require removing the spare tire. The Exhaust comes with a tire pump from GM. I do sales for a Chevy Dealership in Pittsburgh, we just started building lifted, tricked out trucks, and we put the GMPP duals catback on them all, spare tire comes off every time. Not a very loud exhaust by any means, I was actually surprised how quiet it is.

Very interesting.

Off topic, forum, etc.: I saw your signature/vehicle list and it's nice to see someone else has EXCELLENT taste as well (i.e. '07 NBS and Cobra). I have a 2001 Cobra with a 2.1L KB and 6K original miles. Send me a PM sometime so I can find out if you've found any good Mustang forums. :puke:

lol Thanks.

I always hang out on www.svtperformance.com or www.modularfords.com. I have a completely built motor in my car, KB 2.4 @ 21psi, spray, blah blah, its a freakin money pitt that sometimes I wish I'd have never gotten into.

Don't quote me on this, but the GMPP dual perf exhaust does not come WITH the inflating kit. It is a separate item with a separate price in the GM Accessory catalogue. If I'm not right, then I will be demanding that I get an tire kit with my duals.
