Hey guys I've got this problem with this truck. It wont start normaly like it should.I've replaced everything I can think of and I cant get the problem fixed. If I throw starting fluid in the carb it starts up and runs fine but once I turn it off it goes back to the same thing. Here is what I've replaced on it so far. I put a new fuel pump, the fuel pump filter, the fuel pump regulator, cleaned the throtle body fuel injection area, and replaced the relay. I dont know what else to do to it. It seems that it wont inject fuel on the initial start up. A fried sugested I switch the injetors and I took some of another truck to see if that would fix the problem but I got the same results. I'll try anything so if anyone has any suggestion please let me know. Thanks.

Have you checked fuses? I don't know which one it would be, but I know there are a few electrical circuits that get fuel to these. One primes the pump by running it for like 3-5 seconds when the key is first turned on. Another powers the fuel pump when the engine is being cranked I think, and the last powers it when the oil pressure sensor is reading a certain amount. Can you hear the fuel pump running when you first turn the key to on?

Hey vortec22, yes I've checked all of the fuses. All the fuses are good. The fuel pump does work when you turn the key because I've even done it without the carb and it pushes fuel up. If you can think up anything else. Thanks.

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Check it with a fuel pressure gauge for start-up pressure, change in pressure when return is clamped, and residual pressure drop when off. You will need to put together a series of fittings to tap into the fuel lines however.

I also have a 92 gmc sierra with tbi 350. It starts up sluggish then clears up. I get goin down the road and soon as I slow down for a light it stalls. Wait 10 minutes it fires back up runs for a while then does the same thing all over. Acts like fuel problem, recently changed the pump, not sure? Never had this symptom before. Any help would be appreciated!!

Can u see fuel squirting out of the injectors into your throttle body, does your check engin light come on. Did you buy the truck not running, did it just die on you or did you do some work to it before it died.

Well I was working on it for a friend of mine but this is what I had to do to make it work. In other words I had to rig it. I added a switch with nothing but gound to one of the injectors and before he starts it all he as to do is put the key to the on position, turn the switch on and off and the truck will start right up. Something is not sending the ground that is should on initial start up so this is the how I bypassed it. Thanks for all the help.
